The galvanizing of this forth warehousing building for Kent Building Supply in Eastern Canada is a story of expansion of markets for galvanizing within a single company.  Kent is a subsidiary of Irving Inc. a large industrial conglomerate who's activities include oil refining and distribution businesses as well as pulp and paper plants across Canada and in the US.

Irving inc. was first exposed to hot-dip galvanizing in some of these heave industries and over the years has come to appreciate all the wonderful characteristics of galvanizing we know so well; long service life, rugged, easy to specify and erect with very competitive initial cost and unbeatable life-cycle cost in so many challenging applications!

Therefore when Kent decided to expand the storage space of its retail and wholesale operations the corporate experience in corrosion management helped lead them to hot-dip to protect these new facilities.  This year we completed the forth fully galvanized structures for Kent.  In these buildings the racking systems serve a dual purpose in that they also act as the building structure itself saving cost, space and erection time.

As usual Kent appreciated the fast turn-around afforded by the factory controlled galvanizing and the speedy way that galvanized steel can be erected so quickly with minimal concern for coating damage.

Word has not only spread through the Irving organization about the powerful value equation that hot-dip galvanizing delivers but it has now spread to competitors of Kent who also want to benefit from low cost, long-life and maintenance free galvanized structures and equipment. Several other similar projects have been or are now being galvanized by us for other building supply companies.
