Among the highlights was Corbec’s moderation of the plenary session on the Gordie Howe International Bridge. The panel included Zaher Yousif, M.Sc., P.Eng., PE, Clayton Sereres from Bridging North America, Jim Siler from the Michigan Department of Transportation, and Heather Grondin from WDBA-APWD. Corbec is proud to have served as the galvanizers for the Gordie Howe Bridge, contributing to its durability and sustainability.
At ENGCON, Hellen Christodoulou, representing Corbec, shared a trend-setting update with attendees: Corbec introduced the publishing with the CSA, the first-ever Environmental Product Declarations. The first in Canada for Galvanized Steel and the first in North America for Galvanized Rebar. EPDs are critical in assessing the environmental footprint of materials, assisting in making informed decisions and effects the scope for considerations and design for sustainable construction projects.
Thank-you to Burnco Manufacturing Inc., John Boote, and Behzad Karimi (P.Eng.) for hosting dinner. Alongside valued clients like Canam Bridges and Cherubini Bridges and Structures, and the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC), we had a wonderful time and passionate conversation about steel as a group.
